We don't need more information. We need to know what it means. We need a story that explains what it means and makes us feel like we fit in there somewhere.

Annette Simmons, The Story Factor

Workshop Description

In the fast-moving and complex world in which we live and work, it seems as if we all too often communicate on the run. With a lot to say and little time to say it, we relay our messages in bullet point form. As the speed and volume of information that comes our way increases with each new technological trend, how can we make our most important messages stand out from the crowd?

As leaders, we need to communicate clear and understandable information to our multiple audiences, as well as the meaning, purpose and relevance of that information to each listener. Stories are one way that we can make our most important messages stickier.

What You'll Learn

In this experiential half-day workshop, you'll learn how stories can help you to:

  • Motivate others to act,
  • Build personal trust,
  • Build trust in the organization,
  • Transmit values,
  • Get and keep your team working together,
  • Share knowledge,
  • Strengthen organizational culture
  • Build your brand in the marketplace, and
  • Create and share a vision of the future.

You'll also learn:

  • Different types of stories and when you may want to use each one,
  • Elements of a compelling story,
  • Strategies for developing and remembering your stories,
  • Methods for effectively sharing your stories, and
  • Tools for collecting and organizing your stories so you can pull out the perfect one easily when you need it!
